Scroll Down Memory Lane

Flexsteel Celebrates 130th Anniversary
by Posting Photos of Past Collections

Flexsteel is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year, and we have been enjoying the scroll down memory lane that they have offered on their social media channels, posting photos of designs through the decades. It’s fun to see how fabrics and color choices have changed, and how some old designs seem fresh because the overall style has made a comeback — there are a few Mid-Century pieces we would love to have in our homes today!

According to the Flexsteel website, the company traces its roots to 1893, when the Rolph & Ball Furniture Company began to manufacture upholstered furniture. “By 1901, they sold the company to four tradesmen who set the foundation for Flexsteel.” It wasn’t until the 1950s when the company created the Flexsteel brand, inspired by its patented Blue Steel Seat Spring.

Here at Union Furniture & Flooring, we have been carrying Flexsteel since the 1970s, and it’s long been one of our most popular brands. It’s easy to understand why. With a proven history combined with a reputation for quality and comfort, plus all of that style, Flexsteel has earned its strong customer base.

You can read more about Flexsteel’s history, including a timeline of events, here. We’ve selected some of our favorite 130th anniversary photos from the brand’s Instagram account. We hope you enjoy them too, and select to follow the brand if you want to see more!
