Like Walking Through a Christmas Catalog

In the age of online everything, where for many people, shopping means scrolling through webpage after webpage while sitting alone in a dim room, the cool glow of a computer screen illuminating their face, window shopping is a throwback concept, for sure. Not here at Union Furniture & Flooring. It’s a Christmas tradition!

We decorate our massive 15 windows from top to bottom and every surface in between and make an event of it. The weekend before Thanksgiving, we unveil the windows (which have been decorated in secret behind the paper-covered glass for weeks ahead of time) and encourage people to stroll along the sidewalk on Friday evening taking in the scene of each themed room. This year we even closed off the street in front of the store, set up fire pits for s’more making, brought in a live reindeer and invited Santa and Mrs. Claus to visit with everyone.

If you haven’t made it to the store to see the windows for yourself, we’ve brought a few of them here to you in photos, but the reality is that these works of art are best viewed in person. As fun as it is to view the illuminated windows from outside at night, it’s even better to walk around inside of them. That’s right — our window displays are not just for viewing. We let you shop them (furniture, accessories, ornaments). The experience is as close to walking through a Christmas catalog as you’ll ever get. Even if you aren’t looking to buy anything, you will surely fine some new decorating ideas, whether it’s ideas on how to give your Christmas tree a designer look, an unexpected theme, an over-the-top accessory for your walls or a new way to display traditional décor.

So take your time browsing these photos, and make plans to stop by the store to see them in person. We’re open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and, just for the Christmas season, Sunday noon to 4 p.m.
